Description:
ABT-199, also known as venetoclax, is a small, oral chemical molecule used for the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) associated with a specific chromosomal abnormality. As a second line treatment drug of CLL, ABT-199 take effects through acting as a BH3-mimetic and inhibitor of Bcl-2 (the anti-apoptotic B-cell lymphoma-2protein), further inducing apoptosis of CLL cells but not platelets. It also has the potential for the treatment of ER-positive breast cancer.

Function of Venetoclax

ABT-199 is a small molecule oral drug that treats chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in those with a specific chromosomal abnormality.In 2015, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted Breakthrough Therapy Designation to venetoclax for subjects with CLL who have relapsed or have been refractory to previous treatment and have the 17p deletion genetic mutation.

Application of Venetoclax

ABT-199 is a white powder, Venetoclax, also known as ABT-199 or GDC0199, ABT-199 is an orally bioavailable, selective small molecule inhibitor of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2, with potential antineoplastic activity. ABT-199 mimics BH3-only proteins, the native ligands of Bcl-2 and apoptosis activators, by binding to the hydrophobic groove of Bcl-2 proteins thereby repressing Bcl-2 activity and restoring apoptotic processes in tumor cells.
